LaHood Slated for US DOT Post

Trail Closings Averted

The Hennepin Canal Trail and parts of the I&M Canal Trail have been spared from state budget cuts! While the Governor used his line item veto to zero out restored funding for 7 state parks and other state programs, 4 state parks will remain open – including 3 whose staff keep these two trails maintained and open. GITAP 2009 registration is open

2009's week on the Grand Illinois Trail promises to be a cornucopia of great riding through the variated landscape of northern Illinois, wonderful stopovers amid the woods and stars of scenic state parks, and many enhancements that all lead to a memorable vacation on a bike. The tour begins on Sunday, June 14 and wraps up on Saturday, June 20. Registration is first-come, first-served with a limit of 160 riders. Details here.

LIB kicked off its "Train the Trainer / Bike Rodeos" seminar series with 90-minute seminars on October 25 in Schaumburg and Oak Brook Terrace. A total of 40 seminars will be held across the state. Click here for more.
