"Share the Road" is the message of a 30-second radio public service announcement that was broadcast across Illinois May 7-11, 2007. It was heard on WBBM-AM and WSCR-AM, Chicago; WZPW-FM, Peoria; WLLR-AM, Quad Cities, and the 52 stations of the Illinois Radio Network. The League of Illinois Bicyclists produced the spot with the Illinois Department of Transportation to remind motorists that bicyclists have a legal right to be on the road. A news conference was held at noon May 7, 2007 outside Chicago's James R. Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph, to promote sharing the road and to distribute safety literature. Bicyclists were invited to ride to the event and show their support.
